Windom Area Health's Medical Office Building project: Why now? Expanding healthcare services to meet your local demand Growing your local workforce Making Windom Area Health your go-to place for regional healthcare services Why this project? Due to increased outpatient services, we have outgrown our space, preventing us from bringing in new providers and service lines to meet the community's needs. Is it using taxpayer dollars? No, there will be no taxpayer dollars involved in the Medical Office Building project. While we are owned by the City of Windom, we have always operated as a financially independent entity and will be financing this project on our own. We will provide $10 million of financing from cash reserves and approximately $20 million through a city-issued gross revenue bond on a 20-year term. We are in a strong financial position to make payments. What is a "bond"? Bonds are a type of debt that cities, governments, and companies use in financing projects. Bonds work much like a loan or mortgage that carry an interest rate and term. Bonds are very common in funding large capital projects like schools, highways, and hospitals. What will happen to the current clinics? Windom Family Medical Center is temporarily relocating to a space inside Windom Area Health during construction, set to open September 19th. Sanford Clinics of Windom has relocated to their downtown location. Upon completion of the construction, all Sanford Clinics will be consolidated to the new space.
