Responsibilities include: Administer and enforce all city ordinances related to building, mechanical, plumbing, fire, life safety, accessibility, housing, nuisance and zoning codes. Conduct plan reviews and field inspections, assess appropriate fees and issue permits, file department reports and inspections. Conduct building and site inspections of residential, commercial and industrial property to ensure compliance with plan drawings, specifications and codes for existing and new structures, development and redevelopment. Land use planning to include rezoning, annexations, comprehensive plan and related activities. Position requires Minnesota Building Official Certification or ability to obtain certification. Preference will be given for three or more years building construction experience, building inspection experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Additional skills include the ability to communicate clearly and impartially enforce the requirements of local, state and federal codes and regulations.
